Situated in a magnificent position in Majete Wildlife Reserve, the lodge has just eight chalets set on the banks of the Shire River and is shaded by giant leadwood trees and wild mangos.
Each chalet has a spacious bedroom and lounge, ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower and private viewing deck overlooking the river.
There is a pool to cool off in during the heat of the day and a bar, curio shop and terraced area to also enjoy.
Activities include walking safaris and traditional game drives in the mornings and late afternoons and the lodge also offers boat safaris, viewing hides and a visit to a local community centre and village.
The Majete is located in the south of Malawi close to the city of Blantyre and covers an area of 70,000 hectares. The reserve is made up of mature miombo woodlands and granite topped hills that contrast with picturesque river valleys and lush riverine forest. The reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife with the chance to view many species including black rhino, elephant, buffalo, eland, kudu, sable, suni, klipspringer, nyala, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and zebra. Lion and leopards have been reintroduced and both species have produced cubs. With possibly slightly less game than Liwonde, this beautiful park is nevertheless a superb area for a peaceful safari.
