DAY 1
Fly overnight from London via Lusaka to Mfuwe

DAYS 2 to 4
From Mfuwe Airport, a game drive will take you deep into the heart of the SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK to Kaingo Bush Camp, one of two built and run by Derek Shenton and his wife Juliet. They provide an authentic African game-viewing experience with very personalised service.
The camp has six well appointed chalets and a centrally located open-sided sitting room, a dining area, library and Kaingo's renowned thousand year old lead-wood bar! There is also a wonderful wooden deck built out over the river making a relaxing vantage point to view game coming down to drink, basking hippos, aquatic birds, crocodiles and frequent elephant crossings.
The varied terrain around camp includes a picturesque lagoon, one of the largest ebony forests in the Park and a grassland plain that teems with wildlife. In addition to game drives and walks, Kaingo also has elephant and hippo hides close to camp for incredible close-up encounters and great photographic opportunities. Another hide is built in the middle of the river in early September opposite the carmine bee-eater colonies.

DAYS 5 to 7
Take a scenic flight into the LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK to spend three nights soaking up the beauty of the river and park from Chiawa Camp.
The camp is family owned and run and is situated in one of the least developed wilderness areas in southern Africa. Accommodation is in large luxury walk in tents, each set on its own shady, elevated wooden platform overlooking the river. You will be offered walking safaris and game drives by day and after dark. You can canoe on the river and enjoy sunset cruises and this stretch of water is also particularly good to cast a fly for tigerfish!

DAYS 8 to 10
A short flight away on the UPPER ZAMBEZI, just above the Victoria Falls, is Tongabezi, a lodge that combines exclusity with romance. The cottage rooms have private river views and are positioned under shady ebony trees.
In addition to visiting the VICTORIA FALLS and the craft markets in the town of Livingstone, you can take boat trips on the river, canoe, fish and go on game drives to Mosi O Tunya National Park. White water rafting, bungee jumping, helicopter and microlight flights, horse riding and elephant back safaris are also available.

DAY 11
Fly from Livingstone via Johannesburg overnight to London

What About?

An interesting addition could be a walking safari, either between bush camps in the SOUTH LUANGWA VALLEY or in the remote NORTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK. The source of the Luangwa River can be reached on an exciting camping and walking expedition, or a few days could be spent recapturing Sir Stewart Gore Browne's dream by visiting his 'Africa House', Shiwa Ng'Gandu.
