:: Where we go - Botswana

A landlocked country teeming with game and birdlife, with contrasting landscapes and quality camps and lodges. A kaleidoscope of images will return home with you: that malachite kingfisher perfectly mirrored in the still waters of the Okavango Delta; lion cubs cavorting on the plains at Savuti; the sun kissing the spiral curves of a kudu bull's horns as he gazes in the dawn light at Linyanti; the vast breeding herds of elephant that you encountered having a mud bath on the banks of the Chobe river at dusk; and a meercat sentry standing tall on a tree stump.

Highlights

Okavango Delta, a vast area of crystal clear water which is home to an amazing variety of birdlife and wildlife. Fed by floodwater from the Angolan highlands in June, it fans out into a shifting web of palm fringed channels, lagoons and islands and gently soaks away into the Kalahari desert to the south.

Moremi Game Reserve, part of the eastern side of the delta, has diverse ecosystems harbouring a great variety of wildlife and scenery.

Linyanti, open plains and marshland excellent cat sightings and wild dog.

Chobe National Park, best known for its huge herds of elephant and the panorama and life around the Chobe River floodplains.

Makgadikgadi Pans, covering over 12,000 sq kms of land, the remnants of an enormous inland lake are now some of the largest saltpans in the world.

The Kalahari, where the San bushmen can show you skills learnt over generations which have allowed them to survive the harsh conditions.
