Having
arrived at Kasane you will be driven to the western end of
CHOBE NATIONAL PARK, renowned for its huge
elephant population that come out of the bush to drink and
bathe in the river. Perched on the escarpment overlooking
the Caprivi Strip, Muchenje Safari Lodge
offers game drives in the Park, as well as boat trips on the
Chobe river and night drives and walking safaris in the bordering
forest reserve.
Accommodation
is in thatched stone bungalows each with a private verandah
and there is an inviting swimming pool.
Next fly to Kwando Lagoon Camp where eight
traditional safari tents are set in a stunning location under
African ebony and marula trees on the banks of the river in
the KWANDO CONCESSION.
During game drives in this unfenced private wilderness there
is the chance of seeing wild dog which have denned near the
camp for many years. The animals are now very relaxed in the
presence of vehicles which makes for excellent photo opportunities!
Bird watching while cruising on the river, guided walks and
fishing for bream and tiger fish are also possible.
A
different experience awaits you at Delta Camp
in the heart of the OKAVANGO DELTA with its
original and romantic bungalows, open at the front and constructed
from local letheka reeds. The tree-house, high in the branches
of an ebony tree, provides breath-taking dawn views. The atmosphere
and service at this camp are second to none.
From camp, you will glide through the tranquil waterways
in a traditional mokoro, skilfully poled by your Batswanan
guide who will also lead you on foot, tracking game on nearby
Chief's Island.
Jack’s
Camp, surely one of the most stylish and romantic
on earth, is a wonderful location in which to end your safari.
With Persian rugs underfoot and cool cotton sheets, the tents
are aptly described as providing an ‘oasis of civilisation’.
Activities, exploring the vast flatness of the MADGADIKGADI
SALTPANS, are planned to be as informative as they
are fun. A highlight is walking with a bushman guide and the
desert-adapted game can be also sought in a 4x4 vehicle with
a qualified zoologist or you can head out on quad bikes to
watch the sun set and the stars rise. And get up close to
the captivating meercats - ‘suricats’ to science
minded people and ‘Timon’ to Lion King fans –
what an experience before returning home!
