The
feeling of exclusivity makes Saruni Samburu
the perfect start to a wonderful safari. Perched on top of
a hill in the totally unspoilt environment of Kalama Wildlife
Conservency, it is close to the northern border of SAMBURU
NATIONAL RESERVE. Professional Samburu guides will
lead you to find species of game not found further south including
Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, oryx and gerunuk
- the amusing long-necked antelope.
Next
you will fly to the LAIKIPIA PLATEAU where
Colin and Rocky Francombe will welcome you to their beautiful
home, Ol Malo, with its vast views of Africa.
A waterhole just below the lodge attracts a variety of animals.
Game drives, walks, horse and camel treks and Samburu cultural
visits are on offer. The Laikipia District is in the forefront
of wildlife conservation and boasts the second largest elephant
population in Kenya and has several rhino sanctuaries.
Fly
on into the heart of the MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
where your base will be Rekero, a luxury
camp with accommodation in spacious safari tents overlooking
the river. The Maasai guides are not only knowledgable but
also fascinating when describing their warrior culture and
the conflict between their traditions and modern Kenya.
The camp is perfectly located for experiencing the annual
spectacle of the migration of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles
as they plunge across the crocodile infested river.
The combination of culture, white sand and azure sea to be
found on the Swahili coast provides the perfect location in
which to ‘chill’ after your time in the African
bush.
Kiwayu
is a very special destination set on miles of deserted beach.
The bandas are constructed of traditional palm thatch with
woven matting under foot and the main lodge has sand floors
and cushions to recline upon. The freshest of seafood is served
in countless delicious ways. As well as relaxing in your hammock
or on the soft sand, the more active can wind-surf, water-ski,
snorkel, laser-sail and take a foot safari over the dunes
into the bush in search of game coming to a waterhole. Deep
sea fishing, day trips to Lamu and dolphin safaris are all
options and a romantic picnic lunch on a beach in a private
bay is a perfect finale.
