Robin Pope Safaris has earned a reputation for offering perhaps the finest African photographic and walking safaris. It is at two of Robin's intimate camps in the SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK that you will appreciate just how this has been achieved with stylish accommodation, attentive service, fine dining and some of the best private guides in Africa.

On the banks of the Luangwa River, Nkwali Camp has a welcoming atmosphere with excellent safari guides providing an authentic African game-viewing experience by vehicle or on foot.

Or relax in camp and from the bar watch the hippo in the river and elephant visiting the watering hole. It is also possible to take night drives into the Park using a spotlight to catch sight of more unusual nocturnal species. Leopard sightings are a speciality!
The cool and spacious rooms have high thatched roofs, bamboo walls, open air "bathrooms" and sweeping river views. There is also a lovely swimming pool tucked away from the main area of camp.

You will then move deeper into the Park to Tena Tena. Small and remote, and located on a bend of the river nestled in a grove of mahogany trees, the camp is newly constructed each year for the dry season and is open between June and October.
There are only five tented rooms under thatch, carefully positioned for privacy. Each has a shaded sitting area overlooking a waterhole where the animals come down to drink, and the bathrooms are open air with woven bamboo sides.

We would strongly recommend walking in this area, maybe led by Robin or by one of his very knowledgeable guides for an insight into the bush at a level that will impress you. Game viewing by vehicle is also always an option.

Time for some relaxation and where better than at Pumulani, "the place of rest", on the Nankumba Peninsula in the south end of LAKE MALAWI. This luxury beach lodge has been carefully situated on a west-facing hillside with the central dining and bar area leading on to an expansive deck overlooking the lake. There is an infinity swimming pool on a lower terrace and a lake shore bar for extra drinks and snacks.

The key elements in the design of the ten individual villas are privacy, space and providing a sense of well-being. Sliding front doors open from an extensive sitting area onto a deck to make the most of the blissful views.

Simply relax in this beautiful and tranquil scenery and enjoy the abundant birdlife all around. Or should the urge for activity stir you, watersports including snorkelling, kayaking, waterskiing, fun tube, wake boarding, sailing, fishing and scuba diving are available. And to round off the perfect day, take a sunset cruise aboard the handcrafted wooden dhow before another delicious dinner.

and what about?
	Throughout the year Robin Pope Safaris offer a series Special Interest weeks ranging from digital photographic workshops and Yoga Retreat itineraries to dedicated safaris to seek out wild dog, bats and shoebill storks. There are also extremely good value periods in the Emerald Season when the rains fall and also afterwards as the bush begins to dry out.
