After
recovering from your flight at peaceful Rivertrees
in Arusha, you will be collected by your private guide from
Hoopoe Safaris and driven to LAKE
MANYARA NATIONAL PARK, an oasis of greenery even
when the surrounding area is parched.
Set on the top of the Rift Valley escarpment the small, simple
and very friendly Kirurumu Tented Lodge has
wonderful views over the soda lake. Each tented room is secluded
with a lovely private verandah.
The Park is home to a variety of game and is renowned for
its tree-climbing lion, pink flamingos and breeding herds
of elephant. If time permits, take a walk in the company of
an extremely knowledgeable Maasai guide to the Kirurumu Gorge
and Falls, the ancient Silela Forest Reserve or the village
of Mto wa Mbu.
After
two nights you will be driven into the NGORONGORO
HIGHLANDS through coffee plantations to the CRATER
where, perched on the rim, you will find Ngorongoro
Serena Lodge with comfortable accommodation and unbelievable
views over the ancient caldera.
That afternoon descend into the crater with your guide and
drive down again the next morning. This will give plenty of
time to explore and enjoy the large number and variety of
animals to be found there. Later in the day take a walk in
the company of a Maasai chief or perhaps visit a local village.
From
the crater you will be driven across the plains of the SERENGETI,
arriving at Kirurumu Serengeti Camp, a semi-permanent
camp which is pitched according to game movement (although
it will be in a fixed location while you are there), to take
advantage of migrating herds and resident game.
The accommodation is in traditional safari tents, solar lit
and with bucket showers, but it is so well equipped and beautifully
run that it feels far from basic. The camp accommodates a
maximum of 14 guests but you will still be in the care of
your own guide who will accompany you on game drives.
Your final destination is the unspoilt ISLAND of
PEMBA where you will stay at romantic Fundu
Lagoon in a spacious tented room nestling under palm
trees that fringe the idyllic white sand beach.
A
variety of activities await you - scuba dive and snorkel at
top sites, explore mangrove channels by kayak, discover historic
ruins or the forest wildlife on foot, take cruises on a traditional
dhow, charter the 30’ catamaran and go fishing with
local fishermen. Or simply relax and make use of the stunning
infinity pool, spa and no less than three bars, and enjoy
glorious fusion cuisine served in the open-sided dining room,
at the jetty bar, on the beach or from your own picnic basket.
Spoilt for choice?!
