Kruger National Park, synonymous in many peoples' minds with game viewing in southern Africa, now has an infrastructure that is too well developed for us to describe it as a true wilderness.  That is why we have selected a privately owned lodge for you in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, a huge block of bushveld adjacent to the Kruger.  There are no boundaries to restrict the wild animals but it does mean that there are very limited numbers of humans!

NOTTENS BUSH CAMP has accommodation in pleasant bungalows and offers a warm welcome combined with very professional guiding.

The camp has a rustic atmosphere which is enhanced by the use of lanterns after dark.  Game viewing is in traditional safari vehicles, by day and after dark and also on foot.

From here you can explore the Cape Peninsula and the city, or stay closer to base and enjoy the gentle scenery and outstanding food and wine.  A hire car will be delivered to you.

A Cape Dutch farmhouse awaits you in the wine district in Paarl, just an hour's drive away.

ROGGELAND COUNTRY HOUSE, family-owned and run, is within a short distance of the neighbouring wine regions of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.  Gordon Mincke and his two daughters offer accommodation in the beautifully converted stable and farm buildings, with high ceilings and thick stone walls, every comfort Credit: Marcus Wilson-Smithand a homely atmosphere.

Dinner in the evening is a sumptuous four course affair with excellent regional wines chosen to compliment each dish.

Take a leisurely drive to Swellendam and stay at the tranquil KLIPPE RIVIER, a carefully restored homestead set in peaceful grounds and furnished with beautiful antiques.

Set off early so that you can take your time driving along the Garden Route, stopping for a leisurely lunch - we will have plenty of suggestions for you!

Your last stop is at the delightful HUNTER’S COUNTRY HOUSE, owned and run by the Hunter family.  In a peaceful garden setting within easy reach of the beaches at Plettenberg Bay, the activities in and around Knysna and the Tsitsikamma Reserve, this is a good spot to complete a holiday to remember.

Take an easy drive back to George to drop off the car then fly back to Johannesburg and on to London.

There is so much to see and do in South Africa!  While on the eastern side of the country, perhaps stay at Fugitives Drift and explore the historic Zulu and Boer battlefields or enjoy walking from Montusi Mountain Lodge in the Drakensberg Mountains.  Maybe take a luxurious train journey on board Rovos Rail or go horse riding while staying at Ant’s Nest in the Waterberg Mountains.  And at the end, enjoy some Indian Ocean island luxury off the coast of Mozambique before returning home.
