Often referred to as the "cradle of mankind", Tanzania is a kaleidoscope of landscapes, cultures and welcoming smiles…a riotous assault of colours, smells and fleeting images and a journey into an Africa of the past. Wandering through twisting alleyways of Stonetown in Zanzibar, alive with the scent of myriad spices and the haunting cry of the muezzin; crouching low in the deep, shady undergrowth watching a chimpanzee family; looking out over the open plains of the Serengeti: a solitary Maasai warrier silhouetted against the pearly dawn sky; a pack of wild dog and their puppies pondering the wisdom of crossing a stretch of crocodile-infested waters; like a mirage, snow-capped Kilmanjaro shimmers in the far distance.
